Peace Computers connects to KCCS

Peace Computers connects to KCCS via Centrex ISDN.
After nearly two months of waiting for Telecom NZ to provision a Basic Rate ISDN, a BRI was finally installed earlier this week at Peace Computers.

Although the application had been made in October this year, Telecom had stated that it may be January 1997 before it could be installed. The delay was explained by all of the planned 1996 BRI capacity at the Auckland CBD being used up by early October. However in late November Telecom were working to make an additional 250 BRI available to cover the backlog that was growing quickly.

Shortly after the BRI was installed the connection was made to KCCS after configuring the routers at each end of the ISDN link. Peace are using the ISDN port of an SGI computer to dial up and connect to a channel in KC's Primary Rate ISDN managed by a Cisco 4500 router

Simon Aspden commented after the internet link to KCCS stayed up overnight that the setup and connection to KCCS turned out to be quite boring because it had went smoothly and without any problems.
