Schools/Colleges connect to KCCS

In time for the new school term starting in mid January Bethlehem College in Tauranga is to install a 64K DDS to KCCS in Auckland. By using a channel in KC's stacked wideband DDS this 64K link will cost less than an MDDS connection even though it is an A step DDS distance from Tauranga to Auckland.
A Cisco 2503 router will be supplied by KCCS for the connection at the Tauranga end.

In Auckland two schools, Farm Cove and Howick Intermediate, will connect to KCCS via dial up ISDN connections during December/January. These are two of five Auckland schools expected to complete their ISDN installations within the next few weeks.
Until this week Telecom had been unable to complete any new Basic Rate ISDN installation due to a shortage of equipment and a need to provision for more BRI at the city centre exchanges.
